Devils Continue Undefeated Season With Shutout Win Against Andrews

Playing in their first conference game of the season and looking to continue their undefeated season, the Swain County Maroon Devils do just that in shutting out the Andrews Wildcats. The Devil defense looks to start off strong as Nse Uffort recovers a fumble in the Andrews backfield. With QB Reese Winchester back in the lineup he started up the Devils offense early with a 24 yard connection to Keyantae Graham to get in the endzone and to put Swain on the board first, 7-0.

Forcing Andrews to punt early on back to back drives the Devil’s find Zeke Glaspie on a big 3rd down conversion. But eventually go back to running the rock downfield to have Joshua Collins punch in a touchdown on the ground to extend the lead 14-0. Getting the ball back quick, a screen pass to Graham gets Swain downfield but penalties against the offense leaves the offense looking at a 4th and 27, which ultimately came up short.

After the half, both teams struggled to find offense as the first 5 drives resulted in early punts. However a 16 yard carry by Stroman and 23 yard carry by Collins finds the Devils inside the redzone once again. This will soon end as a fumble by Stroman gets recovered by Antonio Hernandez and the Wildcats. Without getting anything to happen on offense, Andrews punt for their 7th time in the game. Swain looks to capitalize in wasting no time getting downfield, by making a huge pass to Graham downfield, but barely steps out of bounds inside the 15 with no defenders in sight. Leading to another rushing touchdown by Collins from 1 yard out to put Swain up 20-0. Time will soon expire and Swain will come away with the win at home to add to their hot season.

Look Ahead: Swain will travel to Hayesville to face off against the 4-2 Yellowjackets and will look to leave with a big road win. Andrews will stay at home as they look to bounce back and take down Cherokee.
