Featured Stories April 22, 2026 , by Emma Dunn
PRESS RELEASE – As of April 22, 2026, the state-issued ban on open burning remains in effect statewide until further notice. All open burning is prohibited.
Dry, breezy conditions and low relative humidity are elevating fire danger statewide.
Use extreme caution with farm equipment, machines, mowers, vehicles on dry grass, smoking materials such as cigarettes, anything that can throw a spark. In current conditions, these are ignition sources with the potential to start easily and spread quickly.
