Greensboro, NC- The NCHSAA 1A Western Regional Track Championships were held at Draughn High School in Valdese, North Carolina this past weekend. The Smoky Mountain Conference was represented well as the conference’s athletes brought home SEVENTEEN gold medals by winning their respective events at the Regional meet.

Swain County had a heck of a day in Draughn as both their men’s and women’s teams brought home a total of ten gold medals and had 46 athletes qualify for state, including those on their relay teams. Both the Men’s and Women’s teams were crowned Western Regional Champions and will vie for a State Championship on the 27th.
