Maroon Devils Shutout by the Wolverines

Swain County’s defense kept the Maroon Devils in the game for 48 minutes on Friday night, but the offensive production never came as they were shutout on their home turf, 14-0. The Dade County Wolverines held Swain to just 108 yards of total offense, and only allowed Swain 1 trip to the redzone.
Team Notes
Swain County quarterback Reese Winchester was 4/15 passing for just 4 yards and on 5 carries he totaled -3 rushing yards. The rest of the rushing attack was stifled with the exception of senior Gabe Lillard who was able to get to 52 yards on 7 carries for a solid 7.4 YPC. Though they lost, the defense played well and was able to keep the score close. Junior Joshua Collins led the team in tackles with 10 and led the team in TFL with 3. Lucas Sutton and Grady Lewis both notched 1.5 TFL and the Maroon Devils finished with 10 TFL.
As for Dade, their defense dominated the Swain attack all game and held them to just 108 yards. Neither Maxpreps nor Hudl had individual stats posted for Dade County.
Look Ahead
Swain County falls to 3-2 on the year and will head into their Bye Week and then will host Robbinsville (3-1) for a big conference showdown. As for Dade County, they move to 3-1 and will host the Darlington Tigers (3-0) to start region play next week.
