In an Instagram post uploaded by @Swainfootball, Neil Blankenship announced he was stepping down as Head Football Coach of the Swain County Maroon Devils.

In the post, Blankenship said:

I am stepping down as Head Football Coach at Swain High School. This was a difficult decision, one that I certainly did not take lightly, and I want to add that it was not one that was forced on me. I have reached a point in my life where I feel like I need a change.
