SWAIN COUNTY, N.C. – As part of the effort to keep the county informed, Swain County Health Department (SCHD) issues updates Monday to Friday about the status of COVID-19.
The following information is from the September 21st update.
There are currently 142 laboratory-verified cases in Swain County and 48 tests with results pending. There are currently 6 active cases and 3 deaths.
4,126 individuals have been tested and reported to the CCHD and 3,926 were negative.
Statewide the NCDHHS has confirmed 196,501 cases in 99 N.C. counties. 912 are currently hospitalized, and 3,345 have died.
SCHD also emphasizes that anyone who becomes ill with a respiratory type illness to isolate until the following criteria are met:
If you become sick with a respiratory type illness and are in one of the following categories, please contact the SCHD at 828-488-3198 or your primary care provider to determine if you need to be tested.
